The Hunt For Wedding Accessories
According to experts, wedding accessories are mostly dependent on what culture the couple belongs or adheres to, and what religion or faith they practice. Various cultures and religions all over the world add up to the accessories that weddings are expected to have.
For most weddings in America, the couple's country of origin can influence the wedding accessories to be utilized during the nuptials. Initially, the groom and bride agree on which accessories to use for their wedding. For dissimilar cultures, it is suggested that both carefully coordinate with each other for a smooth and meaningful wedding.
These accessories are the most popular and are commonly used in weddings.
? Cake knives and glasses for toasting. Toasting glasses and cake knives are used in wedding receptions. The glasses may be made of crystal and some use goblets. Most have their names inscribed on the glasses or goblets. The knife and server for the cake cutting ceremony are accessories that couples may opt to personalize. In most instances, couples opt to have their wedding date or names inscribed or engraved on the knife and server, each of which is mostly made of metal.
? Flower baskets and ring pillow. These accessories for the wedding are held by children who precede the bride in marching down the church aisle. Usually, the ring pillow is accentuated with decorations, such as ribbons located at the pillow's center part. This is also where the rings of the couple are tied. The baskets, filled with petals or tiny flowers, are used by little girls who shower the aisle that is treaded by the bride. Ribbons and flowers decorate the basket and pillow, which, more often than not, are also matched with the wedding's motif.
? Garter and veil. Among the most commonly used which have stayed on for years is the veil. The garter and bridal veil may come in varied styles, depending on tradition, culture, or the bride's preference. Some women these days have also opted to do away with veils and retain only accessories for their hair. For a traditional wedding reception, a wedding garter is needed. It is placed on the bride's thigh and is taken off by the groom and tossed to unmarried male guests as part of a game during the reception. It is said that the man who catches it will have to be paired with the single woman who has caught the bouquet which is tossed this time by the bride.
? Wedding guestbook. The guestbook is used by attendees to indicate their presence during the wedding. Guests sign in their names on this guestbook and at times, write their well wishes for the couple. To make it more interesting, couples often complement the motif or color of their guestbook with that of their wedding theme.
There are several other accessories during a wedding that the couple may, or may not opt to have. Some stick to tradition, while some prefer it modern. Either way, accessories symbolize happiness and should only be taken as guides, experts say.
