Ten Great Wedding Invitation Tips
The process of sending an invitation for your wedding can be overwhelming. However, the task can be made simple if you know what to do. Here are some tips that can help you in these times.
• When making an invitation where the children will be invited as well, you can note down their names including their children's or you can simply write “and Family” on the invitation. You can write the invitation as Mr. and Mrs. John Doe, Jenny and Bob or you can simply write as Mr. and Mrs. John Doe and family. If their children are more than 16 years old, you can just write a separate invitation for them just as you would be giving to any adult.
• There are times that you do not want to invite any children for the wedding ceremony. The best thing to do is to add this information to the invitation card so that your guests will know.
• When you invite a guest who is still single, it is advisable to put “and guest” or similar remarks on the wedding invitation so that they can decide whether to bring someone to the wedding or not. It is normal for single people to bring somebody to the ceremony. It is usually this kind of occasion that close friends meet and introduce their special someone to the group.
• You must also be aware that around 7 to 10 percent of the invited guests say yes to the invitation but will not actually attend the ceremony. Study also shows that around 20 to 30 percent of these guests will not also be able to attend at the reception. Therefore, it is advisable that you consider booking for buffet dinner instead of a sit down dinner to avoid any budget problems.
• There are times that you do not want somebody to attend both the ceremony and reception because of budget concerns. If this is the case, you will have to make two sets of invitations. One that will have information about the reception and the other set of invitation that does not contain any information about the reception.
• Consider calling those guests who did not respond to your invitation. Reminding them about the invitation would be a good idea. You need to know how many people will be attending the occasion so you can prepare for the budget accordingly.
• Order your invitations at least 4 weeks before the scheduled mailing date. This is to ensure that you have enough time to deliver the invitations in case there will be delays on making the invitations.
• Check thoroughly the templates before printing the invitation. Check the spelling of your guest's names and the contents of your invitation. Once printed, it will be difficult to correct the errors without damaging the invitation.
• When ordering for an invitation card, always provide several excess invitations in case you will urgently need to invite someone that you have not considered before.
• Invitations should be mailed as early as 6 weeks before the scheduled wedding. It is also advisable to inform your guests that you will need their response three weeks before the wedding. This will give time for your guests to prepare for the wedding and for you to prepare for the budget.
Invitations may require a preparation that is less complicated than the rest of the wedding elements, but knowing whom to invite should take top priority. After all, weddings are made more meaningful and special when celebrated with people who matter to the couple's lives.
